Kind-hearted Blues fans grant Carol a birthday wish

Birmingham City fans have rallied round to grant a true club legend a special birthday surprise this year. Carol Butcher, who is known amongst the Blues faithful as “scarf lady” celebrates her 70th birthday this year and via the power of social media,

Birmingham fans have managed to raise money towards a commemorative brick to be instilled at the club. Tracy Hemming started the fundraiser through her own PayPal with help from fellow Bluenose Dee Bishop. With support from Blues Collective and Eze Group, Tracy helped organized her VIP day last week at St Andrews and then the campaign to raise money for a Bluenose heroine really took off. An appearance on popular Blues radio programme “Tilton Talk” helped further, and donations continued to roll in for Carol, who lives in Nechells. The funds have been rising ever since, and people have now been rallying to contribute to a season ticket for Carol, with that fund now standing at over £290. One Blues fan even offered the full sum towards the commemorative brick to be installed at St Andrews in recongnition of Carol, and her 57 years of support at the club. And after the unbelievable act of kindness, Tracy is over-the-moon by the love shown from everyone at the club. “We’ve done it for the simple reason us Bluenoses care an awful lot for Carol as you can quite rightly see by the fund. “I am in absolute ore of the support we’ve had in everything we have done. It was all started by a simple comment I made on the fans site about the word legend. It’s used far too freely these days and not always in the right content, whereas Carol is a legend. “All the Bluenoses that have made donations, given Carol support in any way I’m truly thankful. Carol herself certainly knows how much we all care and respect her,” Tracy said.Kind-hearted Blues fans grant Carol a birthday wish Birmingham City fans have rallied round to grant a true club legend a special birthday surprise this year.
